you basically need a microsoft harddrive that is made for the 360 to be able to play original xbox games. It depends on what xbox version you have. If you have the new slim model 360, the only HDD you can buy that fits into that model is the 250gb...But its also possible to use the old original 360 model hard drive in the new slim 360 if you take off the plastic case to it. I have done this before and my friend has done this for over a year now. If you are using the old original 360 then you just need to buy any HDD that will fit into that system. cheapest is the $20 20gb. And that is the same hard drive you can take the plastic shell off and make it fit into the slim 360 too.

You need an adapter for the Xbox, wirless, satellite and LAN most of em take. You need a router connected to the reciver on the Directway Satellite and then link it to the Xbox.

There is a new update due for tomorrow or Xbox Live Dashboard, but Microsoft is sending emails to people telling them to update or else there will be no service. For the last 3 months people at Xbox forums had stated that a ban wave update will be due Nov 4, 2010 but it will be tonight in 2.5 hours.

How do i use my Linksys router with my "official" xbox 360 wireless adapter?
I have a WRT54GX4 Linksys wireless router which i can't seem to get to work with my official Xbox 360 adapter. I have read the "Official" forums and they do not address this problem and i can't seem to figure it out. Usually when i try to connect it either can't get an IP address or fails the DNS test but i have found that now it even fails the wireless network test even though it sees my wireless network and it passes the wireless network adapter test. I have heard rumors about downloads from xbox live which i cannot find when i finnally dust off the good old ethernet cable. I also checked the Linksys site and it said nothing so i updated my firmware on my router anyway. I am currently running 1.00.17 firmware on my router and 4.3.19.1 firmware on my "official" xbox 360 wireless adapter. You are correct, if that is your version. The one in that thread is a different Lite-on then before. Old Lite-ons are flashable with a tool. This new model currently is not, unless you send $42 dollars to this website called Foundmy.com for your key. They are currently working on a free way to share to with everyone, since FoundMy are being huge ***** over keeping it secret.
Your version however is most likely the old version, which is flashable, so don't worry. Just open it and look at the sticker on top of the dvd drive for your firmware version. It's in the lower left hand corner. In the link you posted, scroll down for a picture of the label, and look in the lower left corner. You will see "83850c". You are correct, if that is your version. The one in that thread is a different Lite-on then before. Old Lite-ons are flashable with a tool. This new model currently is not, unless you send $42 dollars to this website called Foundmy.com for your key. They are currently working on a free way to share to with everyone, since FoundMy are being huge ***** over keeping it secret.
Your version however is most likely the old version, which is flashable, so don't worry. Just open it and look at the sticker on top of the dvd drive for your firmware version. It's in the lower left hand corner. In the link you posted, scroll down for a picture of the label, and look in the lower left corner. You will see "83850c". Yeah, the old forums can be misleading. All of those tutorials you read are for the original xbox. It requires an exploited game save to be on your hard drive and one of three games to load the exploit.
For the 360 you should look into the tjag hack, most 360's can't use the jtag hack because you need an older dash (one lower than 2.0.8). If you have been playing on your 360 right along and have the latest dash you can not do the jtag.

Lately I have had trouble playing my xbox. I'm lagging out of games and when I do stay in games lag big time. When I test connections on my xbox it says that the NAT is set to strict. Then I read in the xbox forums that the NAT does not cause lag. Can you help a brotha out.Have a problem with xbox live?

TCP 3074, call whoever provided you with the router with the IP address of the console ( System settings %26gt; Network settings %26gt; configure network ) and tell them you have some ports that you wanna open for the IP Address and they will open them for you and that's it.
regarding lagging:
1- Make sure there's nobody downloading stuff from your network
2- Close other PCs or laptops to check if there's something taking the bandwidth
3- If you're using a wireless connection try a wired one.
but pretty much after you get the NAT opened trust me it will work.

Why does my power brick go from green to yellow when I start my xbox 360 up?

Forums to find partners for xbox live?
Okay I just got an x360 this week and although I'm not a noob (I had an account on my bro's xbox for 2 years until he just moved) I've never had a whole lot of friends. That's probably because I've never had xbox live. XD I plan on getting it soon though, and I'd like to find some partners to play with on Halo ODST's firefight and perhaps to start or join a clan. Does anyone know a forum or site that can help you find friends to play online with? I'd prefer a site that has a girl team or a special forum for girl gamers, as that's what I am after all, but I'm fine with guys too of course. It's just that most my past guy partners were either terrible or really bossy and full of themselves (especially in Halo games).
One more thing, if I've been playing ODST on heroic by myself (I don't know if I can play campaign with a partner) and firefight on normal I'm okay at the game right? It's only the second game I've played that's not an rpg or fighting game (the first being Halo 3 which I beat on both heroic and legendary much to my pride ^_^), so I'm new to 1st person shooters, but I can't tell If I'm good or just average. I just don't want to embarrass myself when I finally go online, everyone always plays like their perfect robots and blasts anyone else who doesn't. XD I think I'm a pretty good sniper though. Big tip....people aren't likely to register an account when they can't read a forum as a guest, why waste their time on something that's likely to be crap for all they know.
Also people won't join if there's no content so make a few fake accounts, start some interesting (and fun) conversations between them and potential members may feel that it's worth joining in. It may seem a bit sad and sneaky, but it's a common tactic for new forums.

I can't listen to my ipod through my xbox 360, i've searched some other forums and no answers.?
Ever sinse the NXE dashboard update i can only list to about 12 songs from my ipod, the rest get an error msg 19-01-8000000a. its not my ipod, because i have not synched it for months and it was working only yesterday. Connect to Xbox live, and go to the following menus..
Game Marketplace,
Game Add-Ons,
O (the letter O),
and then to "Optional Media Update"

What can I do to keep my Xbox 360 from overheating?
After about 10 minutes of play, my Xbox overheats. (The two red lights on the Ring of Light) I have tried just about everything on the Xbox website and online game forums. My Xbox is no longer under warranty and I cannot afford the repair. Any suggestions or cheap repair options would be great. Thanks!What can I do to keep my Xbox 360 from overheating?
Is the fan workn?
If it is overheating that often, then the fan is broken, a bunch of dust is in there, or something else is going coo-coo.
First make sure fan is workn? If so, make sure you got lots of space around the xbox, 6" on all sides and have it in the lay down postion, not up right.
You could also aim a big box fan onto it, it keeps it a tad cooler like that.
I suggest that since the warranty is up, you read a how-to on how to take the xbox apart, and just vacuum it out, remove all dust. and see if the fan is spinning (you should tell even without taking it apart)
If it still overheats, then you need to read a how-to on how to put more heatsink compound on the CPU and GPU, most likely that will fix your issue.
It is true you can brake your xbox but only if you do something dumb. Taking out a GPU and CPU heatsink is really easy :)
And the best part is, the heatsink paste is like 2.99$ at any computer store, pretty dang cheap fix.
If you need the screwdrivers, add another 5$ for parts. In all you need 2 sizes, and a butter knife :)

If you havent tried the towel trick, I suggest that you unplug your 360, and leave it on a surface like a bed or a couch for at least 40 minutes. After this (towel trick) wrap it in about 3-4 towels and make sure the 360 is completely covered. Leave it that way for about 20 minutes. After that plug back up your 360 and see if it works. The most simple thing you can do is keep the top clear.
Keep it in an open area, so nothing near it heats it up. Don't try to put it put it where people step on it.
You always have to keep it ventilated. Make sure there is nothing around it and for at least 2 feet behind.

Is the fan workn?
If it is overheating that often, then the fan is broken, a bunch of dust is in there, or something else is going coo-coo.
First make sure fan is workn? If so, make sure you got lots of space around the xbox, 6" on all sides and have it in the lay down postion, not up right.
You could also aim a big box fan onto it, it keeps it a tad cooler like that.
I suggest that since the warranty is up, you read a how-to on how to take the xbox apart, and just vacuum it out, remove all dust. and see if the fan is spinning (you should tell even without taking it apart)
If it still overheats, then you need to read a how-to on how to put more heatsink compound on the CPU and GPU, most likely that will fix your issue.
It is true you can brake your xbox but only if you do something dumb. Taking out a GPU and CPU heatsink is really easy :)
And the best part is, the heatsink paste is like 2.99$ at any computer store, pretty dang cheap fix.
If you need the screwdrivers, add another 5$ for parts. In all you need 2 sizes, and a butter knife :)

If you havent tried the towel trick, I suggest that you unplug your 360, and leave it on a surface like a bed or a couch for at least 40 minutes. After this (towel trick) wrap it in about 3-4 towels and make sure the 360 is completely covered. Leave it that way for about 20 minutes. After that plug back up your 360 and see if it works. If it doesn't work after that, go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsz0lNJ6J鈥?/a> and do as it says in the video. My friends have used it and it works excellent after you do it.

keep it out in the open, and you can also buy a fan that attaches to the back but BE CAREFULL because when you try to take them off, some of them break your xbox. and you should call microsoft. i play for hours and my xbox is perfectly fine, in a tiny little cabinet.

Why cant i download the extra song packs for guitar hero 3 from xbox marketplace?

When I put a disc in my the tray of my xbox and close tray, it says reading for 2 seconds and in that 2 seconds the xbox makes 2 clicking sounds then it shows nothing but open tray as it would if there was no disc in there, My discs are perfectly fine, no scratches, no major scratches, nothing! Yea, they do dude. Look on Yahoo answers, for instance. There's about three topics a day in the Xbox section dissing the 360. I just answered to one about a minute ago.

I believe I was wrongfully banned from the xbox forums. I am part of the group called the xbox formers and the forum mods have been out to get us. One member named Hatin My Babes was ip banned permantly banned. I made an
account named Makin my Capes and the mods, thinking I was Babes, ip banned me. I am asking if there is a way to appeal or to change my ip address without using cmd?How do I get unbanned from the xbox forums?
